Student Success Center Earns CRLA Certifications
The Student Success Center now holds a CRLA (College Reading & Learning Association) Certification as a Level 1 International Peer Educator Training Program. This credential recognizes university peer educator programs that meet established standards for training, experience, and evaluation. This achievement complements our recently renewed CRLA Level 1 International Tutor Training Program Certification, a credential held by the Student Success Center’s Peer2Peer Tutoring program since 2021.
To achieve each certification, a 10-hour training curriculum written and facilitated entirely by Student Success Center staff was developed and delivered. These training programs include interactive instruction, supervised service hours, and ongoing evaluation to ensure peer educators and peer tutors are prepared to support student success using nationally recognized best practices.
All Student Success Center Student Leaders (Peer Tutors, Peer Success Coaches, Transfer Guides, and Front Desk Student Workers), along with student leaders from Student Support Services and the Chemistry and Physics departments, were trained to these standards in August and are now Certified Peer Educators or Certified Peer Tutors under one of these credentials.
